Kimotsuki Kanetake's Journal

For details on Kimotsuki Kanetake read his details on my other blog at;

naminohira.blogspot.com

This fascinating journal was found in a Kanda bookshop in December past and by sheer coincidence since I owned his sword, I did not hesitate to purchase it. (It was Y50,000!)

It is extremely rare to find a document of this nature from a senior retainer of a major daimyo during the Edo period. It reveals a good deal of his character and
thoughts of a man from the western tip of Japan. Going to Tohoku was like a meeting of near foreigners.
Now I will reproduce the entire document. This is probably NOT the orginal one penned by Kanetake himself to be presented to the Shimazu Lord, Nariakira but rather a limited series of copies made for limited use for the domain.

Enjoy!
